Dream Machine
A last word about bikes (for now). Bill Davidson knows how to build a bicycle. This bike is a thoroughbred race horse. It wants to go. It hauls ass on the flats and it goes faster down hill than I care to think about. It handles like a sports car, even when it is loaded. Without a load it is a dream machine. All of this, and beautiful too.
California
Hi Bill and Mark,
Perhaps you sent me off to California with someone else’s bike? When I ride it I feel that I’m cheating, perhaps like people with electric bikes feel?... so yeah, wow, I guess I’ll just keep it and stay a cheater. Amazing bike, crazy that it could make such a difference.
Thank you so much, we’ll see you in a couple of months for a check in and minor adjustments.

Hi Bill,
Wanted to let you know that the new bike was fabulous on PBP- I finished I with a few hours to spare but more importantly with much more sleep and time off bike enjoying the local scene than in 2007 when I did it last time! Attached photos include pre-ride shot with Chris Heg who was riding a bike of yours I think from 2009 or so. He also finished under-time and smiling. The disk brakes, wider tires, and stronger light all were great all around but especially for speedy night riding on those many winding hills.
I think there was a higher than expected DNF rate due to strong headwinds out (and crosswinds on return) - about 33% abandon rate among the the 63 seattle riders, so my hanging in there despite being among the older riders at 64 yrs is good testament to the bike (though I’ll take some credit too;)
Best,
Owen

Bill,
It’s always a bit of a revelation how well my bike fits and handles.
